What’s the best way to get in touch?
There are good, better and best ways, depending on conditions.
Generally, the most successful methods would be, in order of effectiveness: in person, by phone, via email or online form, and, well, that’s it. Thank you in advance for understanding.
In person
We like face to face discussion.
If there are technical questions regarding your existing bike then it’s probably very helpful, even necessary, to bring your bike along. Or, take clear pictures – that’s really helpful sometimes. If you’re not sure how best to proceed with your bike or questions regarding it, call first.
Unfortunately, we’re sometimes very busy: sunny, spring, Saturday afternoons for example. That’s quite possibly going to be a tricky time to get into the details of purchasing a new bicycle, what with various model options, colours, sizing and test rides. If you have the patience then by all means come down to the store at such times: we will really appreciate your business and your patience, but maybe we could arrange a different time instead. That’s why we offer appointments off-hours. Those can be arranged in person or by phone.
By phone
We try to always answer the phone, even when it’s busy in the store. We do our best to return phone messages whether they’ve come in during open hours or not, but sometimes we’re too busy to take a moment to check the messages, so please try again if your call hasn’t been returned.
The phone can be an excellent way to clear up myriad options and the best course of action, or answer clearly framed technical questions, have various discussions, make an appointment, etc. But on the phone alone it’s probably impossible to tell you how much work your bike needs or what it will cost, or describe the shape of a certain handlebar, for instance.
If you’re not able to make it into the store, and the visuals would help, then perhaps a virtual consultation would be the solution.
Via email
We also try to answer all reasonable emails that come our way within one business day. However, as no one here has a desk job, emails often do not get checked until the end of the day when I finally have time to sit down and eat lunch. Therefore, if it’s time dependent, call.
Specific questions regarding inventory, prices, appointments and lots more (that aren’t covered with a quick look through this website) are more than welcome. Please be sure to have a specific subject in the email, otherwise it will likely be considered spam.
However, a complicated discussion regarding a myriad of options via email is hugely inefficient. Besides, I’m slow at a keyboard. Again, a phone call or visit will move everything along much more quickly.
Social media
Facebook and Instagram do not work well for us as channels of communication for ongoing or complicated subjects and are hard to keep track of in addition to email. We use them only for outgoing announcements. Please email or phone. Thanks for understanding!
Holidays
We will post alerts regarding any changes to our regular store hours on the website, our phone message, social media and at our Google business page (need link) Read more…
Christmas and New Years:
We are usually closed early on the eves, the days themselves and possibly an additional day or two depending on the calendar.
Easter:
We are closed on Good Friday, but usually open on Saturday.
Other statutory holidays:
We’re closed Mondays anyway, but we may be closed on the Saturday of the long weekend.
February break:
We are in the habit of closing for two weeks in February for a mix of store improvements and rest and relaxation.
August break:
We usually close for one week at the end of August and first few days of September.
Other closings:
Once in a while we are compelled to close (usually just a bit early on a given day) due to unforeseen circumstances or special occasions. This is quite rare, but there are inevitably, a few times that it happens each year. We will endeavour to give as much notice as possible about closings and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience they may cause.
Please feel free to call anytime to confirm our availability.
